Tier Priority & Stacking
Bundle Discount Tier Logic Summary
The Tier Priority & Stacking system controls how discounts are applied when multiple tiers are eligible at the same time. It ensures that the correct discount is applied based on your bundle configuration and prevents conflicts between multiple offers.
1. How Tier Priority Works
When a customer qualifies for more than one tier, the system automatically decides which tier should be applied.
Default Behavior:
- Only one tier is applied at a time
- The system selects the highest or best-value tier
Example (Quantity-Based):
- Buy 3 items → 10% OFF
- Buy 5 items → 20% OFF
If a customer adds 5 items:
- They qualify for both tiers
- The system applies 20% OFF (higher tier)
Example (Amount-Based):
- Spend $200 → $20 OFF
- Spend $500 → $80 OFF
If a customer spends $500:
- Both tiers are eligible
- The system applies the $80 OFF tier
2. Tier Priority Logic
- Higher tiers automatically override lower tiers
- Each tier acts as a progressive step
- Customers always receive the best available benefit
This ensures:
- Clear pricing behavior
- No confusion for customers
- Maximum incentive to reach higher tiers
3. Discount Stacking (How Discounts Combine)
Stacking determines whether multiple discounts can be applied together or not.
Default Rule (Recommended):
- No stacking
- Only one tier discount is applied at a time
This keeps pricing simple and avoids over-discounting.
Example (No Stacking):
- Tier 1 → 10% OFF
- Tier 2 → Free Shipping
If Tier 2 is reached:
- Only Free Shipping is applied
- 10% OFF is not combined
4. Advanced Stacking Behavior (If Enabled)
In advanced setups, you may allow certain discounts to stack:
- Combine product discount + shipping discount
- Example:
- Spend $200 → 10% OFF
- Spend $300 → Free Shipping
At $300:
- Customer gets 10% OFF + Free Shipping
⚠️ Use stacking carefully to avoid excessive discounts.
5. Best Practices
- Keep tiers clear and progressive (e.g., 2 → 3 → 5 items or $100 → $200 → $500)
- Offer meaningful upgrades between tiers
- Avoid too many overlapping discounts
- Use higher-value rewards at higher tiers
Summary
- Tier Priority ensures only the most valuable eligible tier is applied
- Stacking Rules control whether multiple discounts combine or not
- By default:
- One tier applies
- Higher tiers override lower ones
This system helps maintain clear pricing logic, prevents conflicts, and ensures customers always receive the best possible offer.
