Amount-Based Tiers

Amount-based tier discounts allow you to apply discounts when the total value (subtotal) of the bundle reaches a specific amount. Instead of counting the number of items, this method focuses on how much the customer is spending.

How It Works

  • Discounts are triggered based on the bundle subtotal.
  • Each tier defines:
    • A minimum spend amount
    • A corresponding discount value
  • As customers increase their total spend, they unlock higher discount tiers automatically.

Key Benefits

  • Encourages customers to spend more money
  • Increases average order value (AOV)
  • Flexible for stores with varying product prices
  • Works well for premium or high-ticket products

When to Use Amount-Based Tiers

This strategy is ideal when:

  • You want to increase the total cart value
  • Your products have different price ranges
  • You want to reward customers for higher spending, not just quantity

Best Practices

  • Set realistic and achievable spending thresholds
  • Offer better discounts at higher tiers to motivate upgrades
  • Clearly show progress (e.g., “Spend $50 more to unlock 10% OFF”)
  • Combine with upsell or cross-sell strategies for better results

Set Up an Amount-Based Tier Discount

  1. Click Discounts in the left sidebar.
  2. Under Pricing Mode, select Tiered Discounts.
  3. In the Discount Calculation section, choose Amount Based.
  4. In the Discount Tiers section, click Add Tier or edit an existing tier to set the amount condition and discount value.

After setting the tier, the discount will be applied when the bundle subtotal reaches the defined amount threshold.
